Learn what to ask about GAF roof warranties, product eligibility, registration and the difference between material and workmanship coverage.

A warranty should be identified by its exact name in your roofing proposal. “GAF warranty” alone is not enough to explain what is covered, for how long, or which installation and registration requirements apply.
Compare the GAF Certified warranty options
Barnes N’ Roofs is a GAF Certified contractor. The GAF chart below explains warranty options for that certification level. An enhanced warranty is not automatic on every project. Confirm eligibility, included products, registration and any additional cost in your written proposal.

Separate the coverage questions
Ask about manufacturer coverage for the roofing products and about any separately stated contractor workmanship coverage. Those are different promises. Read the actual documents for covered defects, exclusions, claim procedures and limits rather than relying on a headline or a verbal summary.
Questions to ask before signing
What is the full name of the warranty included with this proposal?
Which shingles and accessory products are required for it?
Who completes registration, and what confirmation will I receive?
What workmanship coverage is included, and who provides it?
What limitations, transfer requirements and claim deadlines apply?
Keep the paperwork together
Save the signed proposal, final invoice, product selections, completion photographs and warranty or registration confirmation. If you sell the property, check the actual transfer terms promptly. Do not assume that coverage transfers without a process or deadline.
Review the current terms
The GAF documents control manufacturer coverage. This guide helps organize your questions and does not replace those terms. Ask us to explain the warranty proposed for your specific roof before work begins.
