What the rating means
Impact classes describe performance in a controlled laboratory test. Class 4 is the highest UL 2218 classification. Neither Class 3 nor Class 4 means hail-proof, and an impact rating is not the same as a hail-damage warranty. Verify the exact product label and current technical sheet.
| Question | Class 3 | Class 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Impact test | Meets the Class 3 test | Meets the more demanding Class 4 test |
| Hail damage possible? | Yes | Yes |
| Insurance discount? | Ask your insurer | Ask your insurer |
| Installed price | Quote the exact roof system | Compare the upgrade cost on the same scope |
