Central Texas Roof Maintenance: A Seasonal Checklist

A practical roof and gutter maintenance calendar for Central Texas, with safe observations, photo records and inspection triggers.

Finished gutter and downspout at a Barnes N’ Roofs Boerne project.

The most useful maintenance habit is noticing changes early. Keep a simple photo record, watch how water drains and arrange an inspection when something changes. This checklist is for safe observations from the ground, not climbing or do-it-yourself roof repairs.

Gutters are part of the picture

Roof-edge and gutter detail from the Boerne cleaning and leaf-guard project.

Our Boerne project documents gutter cleaning and leaf-guard work. Guards still need condition and debris checks; they are not a maintenance-free guarantee.

Save a simple condition record

  • Date and safe ground-level photos of each side of the home.

  • Location of any stain, drip, overflow or missing material.

  • Whether the change followed rain, wind, hail or freezing weather.

  • Earlier inspection reports, repairs and warranty documents.

Avoid turning a small problem into a larger one

Stay off wet, damaged or steep roofs. Leave roof access, branches near power lines and overhead work to the appropriate professionals. Before applying a cleaner, coating or pressure washing, verify that the roof manufacturer permits it. Do not seal over an unidentified leak source.
